Baby Wars: Why Israeli civilian casualties are low

I was just on a radio program/debate with Dr. Hashem Mubarak in Florida. One of his major challenges was “why are there more Palestinian than Israeli civilian casualties. Upon hanging up, I looked at my email, and here was the answer (HT: Shim Berkowitz):

Dr. Mubarak, although he had never read the Hamas charter, had no hesitation telling the audience that this was not a religious issue.

Here’s the debate.

    This picture says it all…

i keep saying that most people who talk about the conflict are willfully ignorant about its nature and history. they talk through their hats, expressing the arab propaganda channeled by the media, or their emotions and ideology, rather than empirical reality.

it has a lot to do with the collapse of the notion and appreciation thereof that in order to discuss any subject one has to acquire knowledge about it and be trained/capable to reason. the notion that rules is that every opinion (whether based on reality or not) is legitimate and can be as good as any other.

This is the end of the British education system:

“Letter signed by UK academics hoping for a military defeat for Israel and “taking sides against Israel” in this war”

None of the signers of this disgusting letter should be allowed to teach in the US.

And the image, the representation is an accurate reflection of the reality. Yet one doesn’t see even a close or rough approximation of this fact being depicted on the nightly or 24/7 news cycle. Instead, we’re treated to crass equivocations driven by MSM-styled triangulations, driven by a lack of moral backbone, driven by superficial analyses, driven by a superficial sense of “wanting to be fair” to “both sides.”

So many smilingly, wouldbe earnest talking heads, indulging a sophistical gloss and pretense and resulting in serving more, not less, malevolence over the long term.

An idiot’s question: But why are they holding guns?

Let me precise that I merely reproduced above many readers’ reactions on articles dealing with the “Israeli-Palestinian conflict” over the years.

    Richard,

    That’s a cropped version.

You can view the original (as far as I know) version.

Devastating picture and a sharp reminder to me of how much the constant propaganda effects even those who know better. The next time someone tries the more dead babies argument I am going to point out while Hamnas and its ilk fights from among its civilian population the Israeli army seeks to put itself between its civilian population and the enemy. Again, Israel is walking point for Western Civilization and being reviled for it.

  9. Cynic says:

#6 If I understood your comment I suppose that in the minds of those many readers their expectations of Israeli Jews would only be satisfied if the Israelis protected their kids without any arms and went willingly.

But why are they holding guns?

Because the Muslim is directed by “religious” law to kill Juice but said Juice is very “pig”-headed and doesn’t want to satisfy those religious tenets.
For that the “pig”-headed Juice is declared INTRANSIGENT and uncompromising and won’t accede to the Muslim’s demands for a peaceful accord.

to which christians, hindus, you name it agree and either ignore the issue, or support the muslims.

  11. Ridiculous . That image shows an equality which does not exist . More accurate to show the palestinian with an AK47 next to his baby’s carriage futilely shooting up at an Apache shooting rockets down on them .

Remember , it’s their land you are fighting over .

  12. oao says:

    bubba bob,

when you decide to speak publicly on an issue, educate yourself on it. don’t do it out of ignorance and spread crappola.

it is NOT their land. it is UN land which was assigned to israel.

    idiot.

  13. E.G. says:

    Cynic,

It’s the “Why can’t they just sit together and talk it out” attitude. Somehow forgetting that the Great European reconciliation was preceded by a denazification programme in some countries.

  14. E.G. says:

    No Bob Armstrong,

It’s not about equality. It’s about values, first and foremost about life.
And there’s an abysmal asymmetry between a life-valuing society and a death-cult one. Once upon a time, there used to be many peoples (or tribes) in the ME who practiced Human sacrifice. Part of Abraham’s alliance is the abolition of such cults. It was the beginning of modern civilisation.

If it takes Apaches to make it clear that Humans are entitled to live freely, over Grads that state that some Humans are superior to their own babies and other Human beings, then let the message be heard world wide. It is universal.

  15. oao says:

Again, Israel is walking point for Western Civilization and being reviled for it.

it is a point for a civilization that is committing suicide and on its death bed.
