On the MO of a “Scourge”: Mya Guarnieri deals with criticism
CiF Watch has an interesting piece about the experience of their fellow “media watcher” organization, The Brothers of Judea, who monitor the anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism of the Huffington Post.
The case in question concerns a certain Mya Guarnieri, who supports a one-state solution after the return of the Palestinian refugees, as the path to a “true democracy.” The contrast between Guarnieri’s inflated rhetoric and the Brother’s of Judea’s measured remarks highlights the way in which what Anthony Julius calls “scourges” – that is, Jews who believe that their higher morality impels them to engage in public whipping of Israel to drive it on the right path – lose all perspective in their obsession with Israel’s “crimes.”
Their sharp but entirely legitimate criticisms apparently did not please Ms. Guarnieri, who seems more comfortable in the position of “indignant scourge” than that of even “mildly rebuked.” So her response? I’m looking into suing you for defamation. Shades of Charles Enderlin and the Streisand effect.
Everybody forgets that in the 1930s and through World War 2 and the Holocaust, the Arab leadership demanded that the British stop Jewish refugees from coming into Israel. The British complied with the 1939 “White Paper on palestine.” But the WP did allow for 15,000 Jews being allowed into the country per year for the next five years. That was still too much for the Arab leadership in the country, although the British did not even allow that small quota to be filled. The White Paper was found illegal, by the way, by the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations.
So Mia should be reminded of all that relevant history. It was precisely the Arabs who demanded that Jewish refugees not be allowed into the country, the internationally designated Jewish National Home.

Do you really think, given her attitude and response, that you can reach her with history and truth?
The whole idea is that she has the truth and any claim to the contrary is libel.

She did not lose touch, she never had any. It is pretty obvious to me that she is simply dumb, idiotically dumb.
She does not have the most basic capacity to make her points. There are quite a few way in which she could have made some point, but she is just too unable to reason and write intelligently.
Which brings me to the root problem: There was a time when it was extremely difficult if not impossible for idiots to be published. Today you can barely find the intelligent writings among the garbage. And audiences are equally ignorant and dumb.
That in itself exposes the collapse of the west like nothing else.
