Defining Political Correctness

I can’t find the origin of this piece of folk wisdom and it’s apparently a bit old, but it’s still a pretty choice definition.

There’s an annual contest at the Griffith University, Australia, calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.

This year’s term was ‘political correctness’.

The winning student wrote:

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.”

One Response to Defining Political Correctness

  1. Vilmos says:

I also hade similar thoughts about Nazism and Communism.

Nazism is like a piece of shit. Almost everybody finds it disgusting, and only repulsive people would put into their mouth and enjoy it.

Communism, on the other hand, is the same piece of shit but with an added layer of sugar-coat. It is hard to comprehend that so many otherwise good and intelligent people — who are respected in polite society — are happy to put it into their mouth, attest that it is good – even when the sugar-coat is already long gone.
